Angle= 45°
Opposite= x
Hypothenuse= y
Adjacent= √2

From SOHCAHTOA,

Opposite/Adjacent= x/√2 = tan 45°

x= √2(tan45°)= √2(1)= √2.

And from Pythagoras theorem,

(Hypotheuse)²= (Opposite)² + (Adjacent)²

y²= x² + (√2)²

y²= (√2)² + 2

y²= 2 + 2= 4

y= √(4)= 2.

Thus, x= √2, and y= 2.
