At Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Education and Political Science (offered under the Faculty of Education) and core Political Science (offered under the Faculty of Social Sciences) are treated as two entirely different courses with separate cut-off marks.
1. Education and Political Science (B.A. Ed.)
This course trains you to become a professional educator specializing in political science. Because it falls under the Faculty of Education, the entry bar is lower.
Initial JAMB Eligibility Cut-Off: 160 (You must score at least 160 in UTME to qualify for UNIZIK's post-UTME screening for this course).
Average Departmental Merit Aggregate: 206
(This is the final calculated target score you need to guarantee merit admission after combining your UTME and O'level points).
2. Political Science (B.Sc.)
This is a core social science degree focusing purely on political theory, international relations, and governance. It is highly competitive.
Initial JAMB Eligibility Cut-Off: 180 – 200
(UNIZIK sets a baseline of 180 for Social Sciences, but historically, candidates with scores below 200 are rarely short-listed for core Political Science due to high competition).
Average Departmental Merit Aggregate: 225 – 235
(Because of the high volume of applicants, the final aggregate required to clear the merit list for the B.Sc. track is significantly higher).
Reminder: How UNIZIK Calculates Your Admission Score
UNIZIK uses a 70% JAMB and 30% O'level ratio to calculate your final admission aggregate score.
Single Sitting Bonus: UNIZIK adds a 10-point bonus to your total O'level score if you clear all subjects in one exam sitting (WAEC or NECO). Two sittings get 0 bonus points.

Does UNIZIK wait for NECO result before starting their admission process? And do they allow aspirants to update their O'level result once their NECO is out?
