The person most often called the “father of electricity” is Benjamin Franklin.
Franklin earned this title because of his famous experiments in the 18th century, especially his kite experiment, which demonstrated that lightning is a form of electricity. He also introduced important concepts like positive and negative electrical charges.
That said, electricity wasn’t discovered by a single person. Other important contributors include:
William Gilbert – studied magnetism and coined the term “electricus”
Michael Faraday – discovered electromagnetic induction
Nikola Tesla – developed alternating current (AC) systems
