An iron rod is 2.58m long at 0c. Calculate the length of a brass rod at 0c if the difference between the lengths of the two rods must remain the same at all temperatures.(linear expansivity of iron=1.2× 10-⁵k, linear expansivity=1.2×10-⁵k)?

Expansion Iron = 1.2x10⁻⁵
Expansion brass=1.9x10⁻⁵
Length in iron =2.58m
L₂α₂=L₁α₁
L₂=L₁α₁/α₂
L₁=(1.2x10⁻⁵)x2.58
--------------------
1.9x10⁻⁵
L₁=1.63m
