Under the microscope, plant cells look like massive rectangular interlocking bricks. The cell wall of each cell is plainly seen surrounding it. The cell wall becomes rather thick and noticeable when colored. The cytoplasm is light in color, with a darkly pigmented nucleus at the cell's edge.
