The main impurity is silica (sand or rock) which is silicon dioxide. and the furnace would become blocked if it was not removed. to form calcium silicate (called slag) which is liquid in the furnace. where it floats on the liquid iron and is easily removed
The blast furnace
Iron is extracted from iron ore in a huge container called a blast furnace. Iron ores such as haematite contain iron(III) oxide, Fe 2O 3. ... In this reaction, the iron(III) oxide is reduced to iron, and the carbon is oxidised to carbon dioxide.

Given,
Mass=40kg,v=1m/s,v=2m/s
According to the work-energy conversion theorem;
Work done by the force= Change in Kinetic energy,
Work done by the force =(

)×m×(v

)
Work done =0.5×40×(4−1)=60J

II) The blast furnace
Iron is extracted from iron ore in a huge container called a blast furnace. Iron ores such as haematite contain iron(III) oxide, Fe 2O 3. ... In this reaction, the iron(III) oxide is reduced to iron, and the carbon is oxidised to carbon dioxide.
