Highly standard here is what to know about it Speaking at the end of a 3-day intense quality assurance exercise, the head of the delegation, Professor Charles Uwadia, said CPN appreciated the rich contents of the curriculum of the department. He said it was all-encompassing, and its coverage was capable of delivering the set objectives of the programme, as well as satisfying the yearning of the 21st Century information technology.

According to him, “Having gone through the resources of the department, we observed that the philosophy behind the programme is in line with the requirements and professional ethics of the profession.”

In addition, Professor Uwadia, who led a 5-man team, commended the high quality of examination materials in terms of questions, answers and external assessment procedure. He also noted the strong correlation between the questions, marking schemes and scores awarded.

The CPN accreditation team said that having embarked on similar exercise in other institutions, they were impressed with the level and quality of instructional facilities in the department. “With 11 classrooms, two lecture theatres and three computer science laboratories; with a total of 230 systems having up-to-date version of different software running on them, there is no doubt that the students have the required equipment to learn and work with, in the department,” the team leader stated.

Professor Uwadia noted that one of the principal challenges that normally face the administration and running of a programme like Computer and Information Sciences was that of funding, but from the evaluation of Covenant University’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences, it was evident that the funding was central and the department was not starved of funds. Consequently, they were certain that the mandate of raising 21st century ICT giants was attainable by the department.

The team was impressed by the up-to-date hard copy journals and e-volumes available at the library, as they will, no doubt, enrich teaching and enhance the knowledge base and expertise of students in becoming certified.

Professor Uwadia stated that he hoped the visit would make the programme and profession better in Covenant University, benefit students and parents, regulatory bodies, government and international bodies in general.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, said the visit was symbolic, coming on the heels of the University’s drive towards Vision 10:2022. According to him, the feedback from exercise such as the resource verification process would help the University in her quest to actualize the vision.

some buildings ans stuff require renovation yeah but it isn't as bad as other Nigerian universities
but then there are state of the art facilities there (the chancellor is an architect so what more do you expect )
