According to rules of indefinite determiners,"ANY" as an indefinite determiner may be used to refer to any number of things taken separately with a singular verb!!
moreso,rule of concord confirms it that a singular noun takes a singular verb plural noun takes a plural verb!!
But these example isn't clear @myschool ;
(EACH OF THE STUDENTS is to be caned)
students -plural noun
is - singular verb
why??how come??????
