Plateau State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Nanle Dashen, gave the charge last weekend at the foundation laying of the National Association of Plateau State Students, NAPSS, National Secretariat in Barkin Ladi.

Dashen said past executives of the student body had always sought financial assistance from the state government but ended up diverting such funds to their personal use.

He said: “We know of some executives of this body, who have conducted launching to raise funds for the building of the National Secretariat, but the question we can’t answer is what the money has been used for. Although we know how to track them down but we are only being considerate, we do not want to tarnish the image of our students”.

“For those of you preparing to also engage in student politics in future, I urge you to be honest and avoid all forms of corrupt practices because you will end up having a bad reputation”.

While congratulating the NAPSS executive for the achievement, he called on students of the state to take their studies seriously and shun cultism.

NAPSS President Comrade Promise Yatu while appreciating to the management of the Plateau State Polytechnic for donating the land for the secretariat promised to leave a legacy worth emulating through the project.

In apparent response to the commissioner’s indictment of the previous leadership, he urged that “their sins” should not be transferred to the incumbent executive council and solicited government’s support for the project.
