According an internal memorandum signed by the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Enforcement of the Use of Identity Cards, Engr. Prof. A. H. Igoni, the enforcement will officially begin on Monday, March 9, 2026. This follows a previous directive issued by the Acting Registrar, Dr. Idanyingi I. Daminabo, earlier in February.

RSUST enforces compulsory wearing of ID Cards on campus from March 9

The decision, which grants a one-week grace period for the university community to adjust, introduces a strict "No Identity Card, No Entry" policy. From the effective date, anyone without a valid university ID card will be barred from entering both the main and satellite campuses.

Key aspects of the enforcement include the mandatory visible display of ID tags at all times while on campus. Security personnel have been authorized to escort any staff or student found without their ID cards off the premises. Additionally, lecturers are instructed to bar students without ID cards from their lecture halls, and enforcement teams will conduct spot checks in both lecture halls and offices to ensure compliance.

Visitors and non-staff members will also be required to clearly identify themselves and state their mission on campus or risk being escorted out.

The university has urged all staff and students who do not yet possess their identity cards to visit the Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICTC) immediately for processing, assuring that collection will take no more than three working days.

Management has appealed for full cooperation, warning that failure to comply will attract the full weight of the university's directive.
