The Mass Communication Students’ Association (MACOSA), Federal University Lokoja (FUL), has welcomed students back from the New Year break and announced the enforcement of a mandatory professional dress code for all Mass Communication students.

In an official memorandum issued by the MACOSA Executive Body, students were informed that academic activities will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026. The association expressed optimism for a productive and successful semester, urging students to return to campus energized and ready to excel.

According to the memo, the departmental dress code is aimed at maintaining the identity of the department, promoting professionalism, and projecting the excellence of Mass Communication students within the university community. Compliance with the dress code is compulsory every Monday and Wednesday.

Approved MACOSA Dress Code

The approved dress specifications are as follows:

Shirt: Sky blue long-sleeve shirt

Bottoms (Male): Black corporate trousers

Bottoms (Female): Black corporate skirt or trousers

Neckwear: Customized MACOSA departmental necktie (to be obtained through the association)

Headwear (Female): Red or black scarf (optional)

Footwear: Black corporate shoes or sandals

Sanctions for Non-Compliance

MACOSA emphasized that adherence to the dress code is not optional. Any student who fails to comply on the designated days will:

Pay a ₦500 fine, and

Be referred to the Departmental Disciplinary Board.

The association noted that the initiative is part of its commitment to unity, discipline, and projecting a professional image that distinguishes MACOSA as a leading department in the university.

The memo concluded with a call for the cooperation of all students, encouraging them to “dress for the success we represent.”
