If you're applying to Unilag this year and you dont know how to calculate your cutoff mark, here's how to do it
In Unilag, the departmental cut-offs are in form of aggregates which sum up to 100%.This aggregate is what is referred to as the cut-off mark in Unilag admissions. The aggregate comprises your UTME Score, Your Post Utme score and your O'level result. Each of these scores have a percentage that they contribute to your aggregate.
UTME Score-50%
Post UTME Score-30%
O level Result-20%.
For the calculation of your aggregate,You need to do the following
1)To calculate your UTME Score, you divide your UTME score by 8.
For example,If you get 300 in Jamb,you do 300÷8=37.5% out of 50%
2)For your postutme score,As for last year the postutme was already calculated as 30%,so you use your post utme result like that,if it is the same this year too.
For example,if you get 25/30 in postutme,it is also 25% in your aggregate.
3)Your Olevel result is calculated in points which some up to a total of 20.You are only required to calculate the five major subjects relevant to the course you applied for.The subject combination is very important because if you dont have the subjects required for your course in your Olevel result, you will not be admitted at all,no matter how goos your result is.Be guided. You can get the correct subject combination for your course by going to the university website and Clicking on admissions then admission requirements, you will download the pdf file and everything you need will be inside the pdf.NB: Your UTME subject combination must also be in line with your applied course, failure to have the correct UTME combination will also deny you admission. The correct UTME subject combination for all courses can also be found in the Admission Requirements PDF.
For your Olevel to be calculated, you pick your five (5) required subjects for the your course and convert your grades into points as follows:
A1-4 points
B2-3.6 "
B3-3.2 "
C4-2.8 "
C5-2.4 "
C6-2.0 "
The subjects in which you have D7,E8 or F9 cannot be used.It will not be considered.
For example,If in my Waec or Gce or Neco I have 4A1's and 1B3,then the calculation will be 4+4+4+4+3.2=19.2 points out of 20%.But If I have 4A1's ans 1D7,then it is calculated as 4+4+4+4+0=16 points out of 20%
SO IN TOTAL,IF FOR EXAMPLE, MY UTME SCORE IS 300,AND I HAVE 25/30 IN POST UTME,AND I HAVE 5A'S IN MY OLEVEL,
MY AGGREGATE WILL BE:
(300/8)+(25)+(4+4+4+4+4)
=37.5+25+20
=82.5% AGGREGATE.
So you can also calculate yours using this method and compare it with the cutoff mark for your course which you can also get from the university website along with the Admission Requirements. Both are in pdf format and can be downloaded.
I hope I was of great help to you with this information.
If you have any questions you can ask,I will reply ASAP.
