A promoter of a game of Chess among primary and secondary school pupils, Mr. Shola Olaleye, has said that pupils who play the game are able to think logically, because it develops their intelligent quotient.

He said this during the first Financial IQ open Chess championship held on Saturday at the Kaizen House School, Magodo, Lagos in which 17 pupils participated.

He said, “We want to encourage chess among primary and secondary school pupils, because apart from improving their intelligent quotient, it also promotes imagination and creativity, inspires self-motivation, develops memory and improves concentration, among others.”

According to Olaleye, who is the national coordinator of the programme and CEO, Little bridge Nigeria Ltd, the pupils really proved their dexterity on the game but at the end, some of them went home with cash awards for their efforts.

Those who got cash awards were the first prize winner Egwuatu O’neal who went home with N100,000, Adara Godswill won the second prize of N50,000, while Awotoye Bukola and Okoduwa Evangeline tied for the third position and they had to share equally the third prize of N25,000 and fourth prize of N10,000.
