Abstract:
This research work is on evaluating “The Effect of performance evaluation on Employee Performance: (A Study of Unilever Nigeria Plc, Aba Branch). The data collected from both primary and secondary sources were analyzed and presented in a tabular form and chi-square was used to test the hypothesis. This study found out that the techniques which are used for employee performance in Unilever (Nigeria) Plc include individual evaluation methods and multiple person evaluation techniques. Employee performance can serve as a managerial tool in the following ways; help in human resources planning and recruitment. It helps in organizing human resources through selection placement. It helps in human resources control. The conclusion draws from this study is that workers' performance appraisal is a useful managerial tool for assessing motivating and rewarding employees. It is very useful in human resources planning. If effectively carried out, the result will be objective and unbiased and a good basis will be provided for rewarding employees. The researcher made these recommendations. Management should not be based on evaluating workers' performance appraisal. All considerations should be objective so that accurate assessment will be made. Management should ensure that employees whose performance is rated high should be adequately rewarded to bring reinforcement.
