Abstract:
The workplace has produced a lot of stressors (causes of stress) which have consequently, negatively affected the productivity of employees over the years. It was in realization of the above stated that this research strategy for managing stress to sustain organizational effectiveness by a manager was carried out. Diamond banks in Enugu metropolis were used as a case study. The survey research method was used in this study, where four research questions and four paired hypotheses were used to direct the focus of the study. From a population of 3,409 staff members of diamond banks, Taro Yamanes statistical formula was used to arrive at a sample size of 358. A questionnaire constructed in a closed-ended format was used in collecting primary data from the bank's personnel. Chi-square was used in testing the formulated hypotheses. Based on the analysis, the result showed that Diamond bank managers have not paid good attention to stressors in their various branches. Based on the above findings, it was concluded that there exists a symbiotic relationship between stress management and productivity in the workplace. As a result, it was recommended that managers should involve employees in decision-making. This will consequently reduce role stress in the long run. Other key areas were recommended for further research.
