Abstract:
The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) programme is aimed at introducing undergraduates to standard industrial practices in their respective fields and giving them the opportunity to merge theoretical principles to practical applications.

This report is a brief summary of my work experience at OML34AMT, from the 1st of august to the 31st of December 2019. It is a brief explanation of the knowledge and skills I acquired and my areas of participation during my industrial training. It also gives a brief introduction of ND WESTERN Limited as well as the JOINT VENTURE with Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC).
During the course of the training, I worked with the operation Engineer where I gained experience on how oil and gas are been processed in the Gas plant and Flow station, I also gained experience on how to calibrate pressure and temperature gauge while working with the mechanical department.

Conclusively, the SIWES has positively contributed to my development as an Engineer, exposed me to a better understanding of the industrial practices and processes in relation to the theoretical works done in class and their practical applications.

Introduction:
1.1.1 purpose of training

The student industrial work experience scheme(SIWES) was initiated in 1973 by the industrial training fund(ITF). This was to update practical knowledge in universities, polytechnics and colleges of technologies. It was aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge acquired in classes and technical knowledge in the industry by providing the students with the opportunities to apply their education knowledge in real works situations
Over the years, SIWES has contributed immensely to building the common pool of technical and allied skills available in the Nigeria economy which are needed in the nation's industrial development. Furthermore, the place and relevance of SIWES is underscored by the fact that the scheme contributes to improving the quality of technical skills generally available in the pool from which employers’ source technical manpower. It gives students the opportunity to blend the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom and with practical hands-on application of knowledge require to perform in the industry. Also, it prepares students for employment and make the transition from school to the world of career easier after graduation.
