Abstract:
The gender dimensions of war and in Nigeria is perniciously depicting a devastating trend as are the challenges faced in understanding the gendered dimensions of suffering and shock that is involved, as war is invariably pervading lives and every aspect of society. The costs have been evident as wars are often characterized by large scale displacement, economic loss and death. Evidently in the environment is the disturbing level of psychological bereft and disillusionment which war unleash on it victims and casualties. No individual is ever counted as sacred, as from the children, youth and to the aged.

The destruction it fraughts lacks identification. This study unearth the various dimensions of war and the responses of characters to its impact. Articulating these turmoils have been the backdrop of how Nigerians react to issues of war. Therefore, this work is a gendered appraisal of the text "Women of Owu" in the light of the topic being discussed. It tacitly submits that, since the problems of war and gender can hardly ever be solved, the growing examples of this trend in Nigeria today, may well lead to a future challenge in physical and mental damage or torture of both gender. This study specifically looks at these wars from a gender perspective so as to examine its impact on both genders in relation to experiences such as sexual assaults (rape), plight as displacement and deaths
