Abstract:

The purpose of this project was to develop a package for the Computerization of a patient Billing system for the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital Bon10 State. The Project also seeks to find the opinion of Staff on whether the Computerisation of the patient Billing system is preferred to the manual system. Today Computers are used in every aspect of life. In fact, it is difficult to think of anything that is not helped in one way or the other by computers.
Computers are used in Government Schools, Business, Research, Engineering, Medicine, and Revenue generation. Interviews and Hospital Records were used for the study. The staff of the Finance Department & Audit were interviewed to seek their opinion on the proposed Computerisation of the patient I3i1ling system and the existing manual system. The data collected from the interview and existing records were analyzed. The finding of the study showed that; Staff of the Hospital preferred Computerising.
Billing system as against the manual system because of its effectiveness, accuracy, security, reliability, speed, and law personnel cost. With a computerized billing system, all revenue generation & patient records can be keyed regularly. Based on the finding it was recommended that the patient Billing system be Computerised to keep accurate records, improve Revenue base, and block leakages.
