Abstract:
This research work analyzed the environmental factors influencing the performance of small business enterprises in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). Available literatures and Empirical studies reported that small and medium-scale businesses impacted greatly to the development of the economy of Nigeria. Some selected small-scale enterprises from Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) was used as a study and questionnaire were administered. The researcher used primary data gathered through the instrument of questionnaire on 82 sampled respondents which were analyzed with hypothesis testing using chi-square statistical tool (X2) at 5% level of significance, the available results showed that small and medium-scale businesses are veritable tools for economic growth and development. It also identified the roles and problems encountered by SMEs. Theresultrevealedthatsmall scale enterprises are significantly financed by informal sources of financing than formal sources. Therefore, authorities should effectively implement microfinance credits to reach out to SMEs in other to enhance economic growth. Decisionsmustbeinlinewithlongterm survival strategies for the growth, development, and sustainability of such organizations and the Nigerian economy at large. Itisobviousthata dynamicSME’ssubsectorisneededfor Nigeriatoattainindustrialization and sustainable of economic developmentandforitsVision20-20 to be achieved. This subsector is therefore vital and imperative for the actualization of Nigeria’s vision.
