Abstract:

The phonetic structure of the French language differs from that of the Nigerian language and Plateau state languages. French language learners are bound to face difficulties in transferring the pronunciation of their local languages into French languages directly, knowing the fact that the phonetic symbols of French are different from that of the French language. In this project, we have studied the phonetics and phonology of the French language as the mother tongue of the learner interferes with it. We also looked at where the learners have difficulties during the pronunciation of French words and why.
