This video lesson focuses on the organs or arms of government, which include:
1. The Executive
2. The Legislature
3. The Judiciary
For the Executive arm, we discuss its functions and the various types of executives in different systems (e.g., titular, real, single, collegial, etc). In the legislative arm, we covered the functions and types of legislature (unicameral and bicameral legislature) and the concept of 'parliamentary supremacy'. We also explain how a bill becomes a law. For the judicial arm, we discuss the functions of the judiciary, the concepts of 'judicial independence' and 'plea bargain', We also examine case studies to see how the various organs/ arms of government work in different countries around the world.
