Miniver Cheevy, child of scorn,
Grew lean while he assailed the season;
He wept that he was ever born,
And he had reasons.
Miniver loved the days of old
When swords were bright and steeds prancing;
The vision of a warrior bold
Would set him dancing.
The two stanzas are built on
The rhyme scheme is ABAB (alternate rhyme). In the first stanza, "scorn" rhymes with "born" (lines 1 & 3), and "season" rhymes with "reasons" (lines 2 & 4). The second stanza follows the same pattern (old/bold and prancing/dancing).
