Poetry is considered the oldest form of literature. It dates back to prehistoric times when oral storytelling was the primary method of communication. Poetry was used to tell stories, record history, express emotions, and convey ideas. It predates the written word and was used in ancient civilizations for religious rituals, songs, and storytelling. The other options, Drama and Prose, came later in the history of literature.
