The Amen Kristi was a religious body that carried out missionary work in Lagos, Nigeria. Mama Orojo was made treasurer at the Ijase branch. They were opposed to the Sahm Brotherhood.
The once cordial relationship Mama Orojo had with the members of Amen Kristi, turned frosty when she started seeing Joe Onwuraku. Joe was into illegal mining of gold. They met by chance while Mama Orojo went in search of Nii Tackie, her brother she hadn't seen since their separation due to 'Alien Act' in Ghana. All illegal immigrants had to leave Ghana. Joe was helpful in her search for her brother in Ghana.
The executive members of Amen Kristi were not happy that Mama Orojo missed their crusade. They were also not comfortable with the tribe and place of origin of Joe, Mama Orojo informed them she was to marry. Mama Orojo remained determined in her resolve. She threatened to dislodge the charirman if he acted as a stumbling block.
Some members, like Ibuk are not in support of the chairman's action. After Mama Orojo's heroics in saving the child of Paleo from a burning building, her praises is sung by everyone. The plan of expelling her for not attending the opening ceremony of the Amen Kristi is shelved, while the Chairman became more receptive to her plans of marrying Joe in the church.
