Examine the tone and mood of the poem, “Ambush”.

The following points are expected from the candidates:

i. The theme of the poem.

ii. The use of declarative sentences which convey both tone and mood.

iii. The non-defining clauses which present the activities of the fearsome predatory forces.

iv. The resultant joyless effect of the tone and mood.

v. The cumulative effect of the sentences in foregrounding the theme and morbid tone and mood.
