One of the main differences between tragedy and comedy lies in their endings and tone: Tragedy ends sadly or disastrously, with the downfall or death of the protagonist due to a fatal flaw or unavoidable fate. Comedy, on the other hand, usually ends happily, with reunions, marriages or resolutions of conflict.
