Second Class Citizen by Buchi Emecheta explores the challenges faced by Adah, the protagonist, as she navigates life as a girl-child in a patriarchal society. The novel exposes the discrimination and hardships she endures due to her gender, especiall in the context of her upbringing in Igboland and her later experiences in London. It highlights the social inequalities and struggles that many girls face, particularly in relation to education, marriage and societal expectations.
