In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Accounting under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above Universities include;

Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.


SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(1) EKSU require Economics, Mathematics, and any Social Science subject.

(2) BOWEN requires Government for Public Administration.

(3) UNIBEN (for Public Administration) requires Government/History, one Social Science subject and any other subject.

(4) UNICAL requires Government, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Accounting and Commerce.

(5) WESTERN-DEL (For Business Administration) requires Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.

(6) AUE requires five credit passes to English Language, Mathematics and any threes from Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping at not more than two sittings.

(7) UMYUK requires for Public Administration Government or History.

(8) NTNU accepts Economics/Principle of Accounting and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

(9) CRESCENT:
(a) for Business Administration requires Mathematics, English Language, Economics and Government/Commerce or any other social science subject.
(b) For Accounting requires English Language, Economics, Mathematics and Geography/Commerce/ Government.

(10) OOU accepts Mathematics/Economics and any two other Social Science subjects.

(11) BAYERO requires Government or History plus two other Social Science subjects.

(12) MOUA requires one of Government, Principles of Account,CRK and Geography as the fourth subject.

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Accounting;

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(1) UNIILORIN requires 'O; level credit passes in any three of Accounting, Business Method, Commerce, Geography, Economics, Statistics and Government.

(2) CRESCENT;
(a) for Business Administration requires Five (5) O’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the following: Commerce, Geography and Statistics is required.
(b) For Accounting requires five credits passes in SSCE/GCE/O’ Level/NECO which include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two social science subjects at not more than two sittings.

(3) RENAISSANCE accept Commerce in lieu of Economics.

(4) RENAISSANCE requires five credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language, Economics or Accounting.

(5) GO requires Five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

(6) REDEEMER'S requires Five 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in Social Sciences.

(7) AAU requires five credit passes including English, Mathematics, Economics, Government/History and any other subject. AAU can accept History/Government. AAU also accepts Mathematics

(8) WESTERN-DEL (for Business Administration) requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Accounts, one other Social Science subject and any one other subject of choice.

(9) BELLS requires a pass in Physics for Business Computing and Information Technology.

(10) UNICAL requires five 'O' level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Arts or Social Science subjects.

(11) KWASU:
(a) For Accounting requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting and any other social science subject.
(b) For Business Administration requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics,Economics and any other two social science subjects preferably Business Studies/Commerce or English Language, Mathematics, Government and any two social science subjects.

(12) GO accepts
(a) For Business Administration and Marketing credit pass in Commerce in lieu of Economics.
(b) For Public Administration five SSCE credit passes in English, Mathematics, Government or History or Commerce and two other subjects.

(13) UMYUK accepts
(a) Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant Social Science subjects in not more than two sittings.
(b) For Business Administration, credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Commerce and any two Social Science subjects.
(c) For Public Administration, five credit passes or its equivalent in English, Mathematics, Government or History and any other two subjects from Arts or Social Science in not more than two sittings.

(14) FUNAAB requires two relevant credit passes from any of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Government or Geography.

(15) NDA requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Accounting and two other subjects from Commerce, Geography, History, French, Arabic and Government.

(16) UNIBEN (for Insurance) – A pass in Further Mathematics is an advantage.

(17) UNIBEN (for marketing) requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other subjects at not more than two sittings

(18) BABCOCK - A pass in Economics may be considered provided the candidate has a credit pass in Accounting or Commerce.

(19) MOUA requires two other credit passes from Government,CRK and Geography.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Accounting, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two ‘A’ level passes including Economics.

DIRECT ENTRY (i) AAU accepts            a. BSc, BA or HND in other programme            b. ND upper credit in Accounting.            c. Foundation of ICAN (ii) ILORIN  a. For Accounting accepts ND upper credit in Accounting and Data processing, HND lower credit, ND upper credit in Accountancy or ND lower credit with ICAN (ATS) or ICAN (ACA). b. For Business Administration accepts ND upper credit in Business Studies/Business Management. c. For Finance requires 'A' Level passes not less than grade ‘C’ including Accounting and one (1) of Mathematics, Business Management, Economics, Statistics, Geography and Government, at least twelve (12) Points. Accepts ND upper credit in Banking and Finance in addition to meeting the UTME requirements. (iii)   BINGHAM, AJAYI and AAU require 'A' Level  pass in Accounts, accept ND in Accounting, Banking and Finance or Business Management. For Business Administration, AJAYI accepts 'A' Level or equivalents in Economics and  one(1) of Business Management, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Geography and Government plus 'O' Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics
 
(iv) CUAB requires   (a) two (2) 'A' Level passes to include Mathematics and either Economics or Account.    (b)  IJMB at acceptable grades.    (c)   NCE credit, ND lower credit, and approved equivalent of may be admitted to the appropriate level. (v)        JOS accepts            a. two (2) Principal and one(1) subsidiary passes in any of the following subjects: Principles of Accounts, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Government and Commerce. In addition to the IJMB/'A' Level, candidates should have credit passes in three (3) UTME subjects as per 'O' Level requirements other than the ones obtained at IJMB/'A' Level.              b.   i. Candidates must have completed from a recognised institution with a minimum of lower credit in any of the following programmes of studies: Business Administration, Accounting, Accounting/Auditing, banking,  Finance, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Actuarial Science/Insurance, Secretarial Administration, Office Management, Psychology, Public Business Studies, Administration, Catering and Hotel Management and Statistics, Financial Studies.            ii. In addition, HND candidates must have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in 'O' Level subjects as in UTME requirements.             c. In addition to 'O' Level requirements as in A above, candidates must have a merit in any of the following: Business Education, Mathematics/Economics, Geography/Economics, Secretarial Studies, Financial Studies.             d. In addition to the UTME requirement, candidates must pass any of  the following professional courses. I.C.A.N, CI.B., A.C.I.S., A.C.C.A., N.I.M. and C.M.A. Institute of Certified Public Accounting of Nigeria. (vi) LASU accepts              a. ND/HND not admissible for Direct Entry.             b. For Public Administration two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography and Statistics.             c. For Marketing and Business Administration two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography, Business Methods and  Economics.             d. For Accounting two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government and Mathematics.             e. For Insurance two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography and Statistics. (vii) UNN accepts for three (3) year programme Direct Entry candidates to possess any of the following qualifications:            a. Two (2) 'A' Level passes or its equivalent in any of the following subjects:  Government, History, Economics, UTME requirements.             b.  ND from recognised institutions in Law, Secretarial studies or its equivalent plus the UTME requirements.              c. HND lower credit of recognised institutions plus the UTME requirements. (viii) BIU requires in addition to the 'O' Level requirements specified, a minimum of two (2) relevant subjects passed at 'A' Level or NCE three (3) merits or ND credit in relevant programme.  (ix) BOWEN accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes which must include Economics, IJMB/NCE/ND or approved equivalent in relevant subject(s). (x)  UNIOSUN accepts              a. For Accounting:  'A' Level passes in Economics and any one(1) of the following subjects: Geography, Government and Accounting in addition to the UTME requirements. ND lower credit and approved equivalent in relevant programmes may be considered. ICAN ATS Final level and Foundation pass of recognised professional bodies i.e. ICAN, ACCA (London), CIMA (UK), CIBN, CITN and other members of IFAC may be considered.              b. For  Business Administration: 'A' Level passes in two (2) of the following subjects: Economics, Geography, Business Studies, Government, Accounting and Book-Keeping, in addition to the UTME requirements. ND lower credit and approved equivalents in relevant programmes may be considered. (xi) CALABAR accepts               a. For Accounting:             (i). CALABAR DBA, ND upper credit in relevant programmes; HND lower credit in relevant programme              (ii). does not accept IJMB or 'A' Level paper or NCE for Direct Entry.             b. For Marketing:          (i) Two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Economics or Mathematics, Government and Geography. ND in Business Administration.           (ii) Does not accept IJMB and NCE    c. For Business Management:        (i) ND credit in any Management programme including Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Management, Marketing and Computer science.        (ii) 'A' Level passes in any three (3) of Accounting, Business Management, Economic and Mathematics plus 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Commerce or Economics. (xii) BENIN accepts             a. For Accounting; in addition to the UTME requirements, requires two (2) 'A' Level passes in Accounting and Economics/Business Management; ND upper credit/HND lower credit in Accounting, Financial Studies or Business Management; First Degree Second Class Lower in any relevant programme; NCE credit in Accounting; ICAN foundation or its equivalent or Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administration Final, HND upper credit in  Accounting is accepted into 300 level.             b. For Business Administration; Same as in Accounting but requires two (2) 'A' Level passes including Economics or  Mathematics, requires ND upper credit/HND lower credit in Accounting, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Marketing or Insurance or NCE credit  in Business Studies.              c. For Insurance and Actuarial Science:              i. Applicant should possess five (5) 'O' Level credit passes or equivalent, two (2) of which shall be at the 'A' Level or 'O' Level credit passes at least three (3) of which shall be at the 'A' Level provided that subjects are not counted at both levels of the examination.  Credit passes at the 'O' Level must include English Language and Mathematics.           ii. ND upper credit in relevant programme in addition to five (5) 'O' Level credit passes.           iii. HND lower credit in relevant programmes in addition to five (5) 'O' Level credit passes.            iii. Final Certificate of relevant Professional Bodies in addition to five (5) 'O' Level credit passes.           d. For Marketing:            i.UTME requirements plus two (2) subjects passed at the 'A' Level, one(1) of which should be Accounting and the other either Economics or Business Management.            ii. In Exceptional cases the following qualifications may also be considered:                 a. UTME requirements plus a complete pass in the intermediate examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or of any other equivalent Professional Accounting bodies or                 b. UTME requirements plus passes in all parts of the Associateship Examination of the Institute of Bankers.  or                 c. UTME requirements plus ND upper credit in Marketing or any relevant subject from a recognised Polytechnic or College of Technology.                 d. UTME requirements plus HND in any relevant programme awarded by a recognised Polytechnic or College of Technology.                 e. UTME requirements plus a bachelor’s degree in any   programme awarded by a recognised University. (xii) ABU accepts two (2) 'A' Level/IJMB passes in Management/Social Science Subjects one of which must be Economics. (xiii) CALABAR accepts five (5) 'O' Level credit passes, including English Language and Government, a pass in Mathematics, plus two (2) 'A' Level subjects in the Social Sciences with a minimum of C. (xiv) KWASU accepts a. For Accounting IJMB, Cambridge ONLY, ND upper credit in Accounting, HND Accounting (Lower Credit) b. For Business Administration IJMB, Cambridge ONLY, ND upper credit in Business Administration, HND lower credit in Business Administration. (xv) PAUL accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government and Geography. (xvi) BELLS accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes in any two (2) of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Mathematics. (xvii) EBSU accepts for Public Administration candidates with NCE, ND or HND, the candidates are expected to possess the relevant UTME requirements  (xviii) CRAWFORD accepts             a.
