In the highly centralised Hausa/Fulani emirate system, the Emir was assisted by several ministers with specific roles:
Madawaki (or Madaki): He was the commander of the army and acted as the Minister of Defense.
Galadima: He was the administrator of the capital city.
Sarkin Pawa: He was the head of all butchers.
Dogari: He served as the head of the police or royal bodyguards.
