Delayed Justice: A core tenet of the rule of law is that "justice delayed is justice denied." High caseloads mean litigants may wait years for a hearing, making the legal system ineffective for resolving urgent disputes.
Loss of Public Confidence: Continuous delays and "nonsense" results from backlogs can erode the public's trust in the judiciary and the fairness of laws.
Weakened Enforcement: Large backlogs prevent the timely enforcement of rights, which directly weakens the democratic principle that everyone is subject to and protected by the law.
