A Standing Committee is a permanent committee in a legislature that is responsible for the detailed examination of bills and other legislative matters. When a bill is introduced, it is referred to the relevant standing committee for clause-by-clause scrutiny, analysis, and possible amendment before it is presented for final debate and passage.
