Simple Majority means winning more votes than any other candidate, even if it’s not more than half of the total votes cast.It is also called first-past-the-post. For example:
If Candidate A gets 40%, B gets 35%, and C gets 25%, candidate A wins by simple majority.

In preferential ballotsystem, voters rank candidates in order of preference — 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. If no one gets a majority of first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and their votes are transferred based on second choices. Then voting continues until a candidate has a majority. This system is common in Australia.

Whereas, in Non-Transferable Vote, each voter casts one vote for one candidate in a multi-member constituency, and votes are not transferred even if their preferred candidate loses. It allows several representatives to be elected, but wastes votes of losing candidates. This electoral system was commonly used used in Japan and Taiwan (not anymore), but countries like Afganistan, Kuwait, Jordan still use the system.
