Explanation

The following points explain how a naturalized citizen can forfeit his acquired citizenship:

(i) If the government of a country denies a citizen of his right, then he can forfeit his citizenship.

(ii) If the citizen is imprisoned for about three years within the seven years of his naturalization, he can forfeit his citizenship.

(iii) A citizen can also forfeit his citizenship by renouncing it.

(iv) A citizen may lose his citizenship if he breaches the citizenship agreement. He may have involved himself in false declaration.

(v) A citizen who involves himself in activities, e.g. espionage or subversive activities, that may undermine his country's sovereignty may lose his citizenship.

(vi) A citizen who has not renounced the citizenship of his original country in case of dual citizenship may also lose his citizenship.

(vii). If the citizen is not loyal to his new country he may lose his citizenship.

(viii) A citizen also found guilty of treasonable felony may forfeit his citizenship.
