Describe how a Legislative Council was controlled in British West Africa before the Second World War.
(i) The Government had the power to veto the laws passed by the legislative council.

(iii) As the president of the Legislative Council, the Governor had a casting vote. The casting vote was used when there was a tie of votes in The Council.

(vi) The Secretary of State for Colonies had the power to approve drafted bills for the colonies.

(viii) It was mandatory for the colonial territories to pass laws that were in line with the colonial law validity Act of 1865.
