(a) Features of the Nigerian Federalism are:

(v) The supremacy of the constitution.

(viii) Existence of Supreme Court for judicial interpretation and review.

(ix) The prevalence of the Federal Government law in cases of conflict.

(x) The right of secession is out-lawed.

(xi) Existence of statutory revenue allocation and sharing.

(xii) Existence of single tier police force.

(b) Problems confronting Nigeria Federation

(i) Revenue allocation: The federating states always quarrel over revenue allocation.

(ii) Minority issue: Fear of domination by minority groups.

(iii) Inter-ethnic rivalry: Due to frictions within the diverse ethnic groups, there is unhealthy rivalry.

(iv) Issue of Secession: The threats of secession is one of the problems confronting the Nigerian Federation.

(v) State /Local Government creation — Recurring agitation for the creation of new states and new local governments

(vi) Leadership: The problem of selecting acceptable national leader.
