Lagos Colony's Formation: Lagos became a Crown Colony in 1861 after the British annexed the area.
Southern Protectorate: The Southern Protectorate was formed in 1900, encompassing territories previously under the control of the Royal Niger Company.
Union in 1906: In February 1906, the Lagos Colony was merged with the Southern Protectorate, leading to the creation of the "Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria".
Further Amalgamation: In 1914, the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria was amalgamated with the Northern Nigeria Protectorate to form the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria.
Lagos as Capital: Lagos became the capital of the Protectorate of Nigeria in January 1914.

Myschool, you guys are trying but you have to be concious of making some silly errors.

Lagos was annexed as a colony in 1861,sounthern protectorate was created in 1900,both lagos colony and Southern protectorate was emerged together in 1906 and was laterly joined together with the Northern proterctorate,so as to form an entity called Nigeria,by Lord Lugard.

Myschool,I saluate your doggedness and your tenacity in making this site a place for all.

it's true the Lagos colony and the southern protectorate was joined in 1906 it wasn't completely unified until 1914 by Lord lugard.. shouldn't 1914 be the proper year it was officially unified?
