Nigeria was regarded as a Frontline State because of its active support for anti-colonial and anti-apartheid movements in Southern Africa, particularly in countries like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mozambique and Namibia. Nigeria provided financial, diplomatic and military support to liberation movements such as the African National Congress (ANC) and the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC).
