Nigeria's quest for a leadership role in Africa principally hinges on its *size and population*. This is because its large population and geographic size make it a significant player in African affairs, allowing it to take on a more prominent role in regional organizations and peacekeeping missions. Other factors contributing to Nigeria's leadership aspirations include ¹ ²:
- *Economic strength*: As the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria has the financial resources to support its regional ambitions.
- *Afro-centric foreign policy*: Nigeria's commitment to African unity and solidarity has been a cornerstone of its foreign policy since independence.
- *Regional integration efforts*: Nigeria has played a key role in establishing and supporting regional organizations such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU).
- *Peacekeeping and conflict resolution*: Nigeria has demonstrated its leadership capabilities through its involvement in various peacekeeping missions and conflict resolution efforts in Africa.
- *Diplomatic influence*: Nigeria has used its diplomatic influence to promote African interests globally, including advocating for debt relief and reform of international institutions.

However, Nigeria's leadership aspirations also face challenges, including ³:
- *Domestic problems*: Corruption, infrastructure decay, and security concerns can undermine Nigeria's ability to project its influence regionally.
- *Perception by other African states*: Some African countries may view Nigeria's leadership aspirations with skepticism, given its domestic challenges.

Pls let's try marrying our books, @MySchool is right...the answer is (C). A country's economic strength is a key factor in its ability to take on a leadership role in the region or on the continent.

While economic strength (Option B) is a factor, it has been unstable over the decades. However, Nigeria's large population has remained a constant "hinge" or foundation upon which her foreign policy and leadership claims are built
so the answer should be option c which is her size and population
