The new partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) was formerly adopted at 37th OAU summit held in Cairo in July 2001.
NEPAD was mainly promoted by Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa.
It seeks to lay out a strategy for Africa's economic renaissance ans sustainable development.
It was promoted by Nigeria Senegal and South Africa. As Nigeria, South Africa and Senegal had their leaders as heads of the organizations that were joned to form NEPAD.
The Millennium Partnership for the African Recovery Programme (MAP), led by Former President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa in conjunction with Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria and President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria; and the OMEGA Plan for Africa developed by President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal.
