In a coup, it is the military, paramilitary, or opposing political faction that deposes the current government and assumes power. This coup is followed by suspension of the constitution by the military. this means that, the affairs of the state is no longer governed with respect to the constitution. the rule of law, separation of power and checks and balances that make up a democratic government is totally displaced.
