(a) Meaning of Responsible parenthood; Responsible Parenthood is the act or process of effective discharge of duties and obligations of upbringing, rearing of children and wards by parents and guardian.

(b) Importance of responsible parenthood to national development:

i. It breeds children with good leadership and citizenship qualities

ii. It trains children to be peace loving

iii. It trains children to know their rights and how to secure them

iv. It promotes active participation in community development activities

v. It trains children to uphold law and order i.e rule of law

vi. It trains children to be politically active

vii. It nurtures children to know and perform their duties and obligation in the society

viii. It promotes good national image

ix. It breeds god fearing and morally upright children i.e. positive values
