To study Computer Science in a Nigerian university, there are specific subjects you must master for both your O'Level (WAEC/NECO) and your JAMB UTME.
​Because Computer Science is a branch of mathematical sciences, the requirements are very strict regarding logic and calculation-based subjects.
​1. Compulsory JAMB Subject Combination
​When registering for JAMB, you must sit for these four subjects. Failure to take any of these will make you ineligible for admission:
​English Language: Compulsory for every candidate.
​Mathematics: This is the core of Computer Science.
​Physics: Required to understand the hardware and electronic foundations of computing.
​Chemistry: Almost all universities require Chemistry as the fourth subject, though a few may allow Biology or Geography (it is safest to stick with Chemistry).
​2. Compulsory O'Level Subjects (WAEC/NECO)
​You must have at least a Credit (C6) in these five subjects, preferably in one sitting:
