1. What Physiotherapy in UI is like
Course: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)
Duration: about 5 years
Faculty: College of Medicine
Focus: rehab, injury treatment, movement, patient care
👉 It’s a clinical course, meaning hospital training is involved.
2. Cut-off marks (VERY IMPORTANT)
There are 3 levels you need to understand:
✅ General UI cut-off
Around 170–200 just to apply
Physiotherapy real cut-off
Estimated ~260 JAMB in recent data
Some sources say 240+ minimum to compete
👉 Translation:
Below 240 → very low chance
250–270 → competitive
270+ → strong chance
3. UI admission formula (how they pick students)
UI uses aggregate score, not just JAMB:
JAMB score
Post-UTME score
O’level grades
Example:
Someone with 260 JAMB + high Post-UTME can beat someone with 280 + low screening
4. Subject requirements
You MUST have:
O’level (WAEC/NECO)
English
Maths
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
JAMB subjects
English
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
👉 No mistakes allowed here — wrong combo = no admission.
🧠 5. How competitive is it?
Very competitive because:
It’s in the College of Medicine
Limited slots
High demand
👉 UI even released aggregate cut-offs like ~64+ for Physiotherapy

For a clearer look at the Physiotherapy program at the University of Ibadan (UI), let’s break down the technical details into plain English.
1. What degree will you get?
UI has upgraded the course. You are no longer just getting a Bachelor's degree; you are training for a Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT).
Timeframe: It takes 6 years to finish.
The Goal: You aren't just an assistant; you are being trained to be the person who examines the patient, figures out what is wrong, and decides on the treatment plan.
2. How do you get in?
Because UI is a top-tier school, the entry requirements are strict:
O' Levels: You need at least five "C"s (Credits) in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. It is best to have these all in one sitting.
JAMB Subjects: You must take English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
The Score: Because so many people apply, you usually need a very high score (often 250 or above) to be competitive.
3. What do you study?
The course is split into two "phases":
Phase 1 (The Basics): Your first year is spent on the main UI campus. You’ll study basic sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and some general courses like "Use of English." This is to make sure you have a solid science foundation.
Phase 2 (The Hospital): After the first year, you move to the College of Medicine (UCH). Here, you focus on the human body. You’ll learn Anatomy (where everything is), Physiology (how it works), and how to treat injuries using exercise, specialized equipment, and your hands.
4. What makes it hard?
Memory Work: You have to memorize every single bone, muscle, and nerve in the body.
Clinical Exams: You will be tested on how you treat real people, not just what you write on paper.
The Pace: It is a heavy workload, so you have to be ready to study every day.
5. Why choose UI?
UI is widely considered the best place in Nigeria for this course. You’ll be learning at the University College Hospital (UCH), which gives you access to more types of patients and better equipment than almost anywhere else in the country.

As a current student of. Physiotherapy, UI. Let me say:

The course is a 6 year DPT course

3 years on UI campus or pre-clinicals, 3 years of clinical practice at UCH

Cut off mark- about 64+

Aim for 70 in total so you'll be in a very comfortable spot.

You have to prepare to go to UCH once in a while during your preclinical Years.

Your UTME combo

English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Minimum of 5 Credits in O level required in one sitting.
