No, you do not necessarily need an NCE certificate to be admitted to the Federal College of Education (FCE) Zaria. While an NCE is a requirement for direct entry into degree programs, you can gain admission with SSCE/NECO/WAEC results for the NCE program itself, and an NCE or other equivalent certificate is a requirement for upgrading to a degree program. There are also other entry routes, such as the Pre-NCE and certain vocational certificates, that can qualify you for admission.
Admission for NCE Programs
SSCE/NECO/WAEC: You can be admitted to the NCE program with your Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent, provided you have passes in at least five subjects, including credits in the relevant subjects and a credit in English and/or Mathematics for some courses.
Other Qualifications: The college also accepts other qualifications like the Grade II Teachers Certificate (TC II), Associate Certificate in Education, and certain vocational certificates, according to the Ulearngo blog.
Admission for Degree Programs
Direct Entry: If you want to pursue a degree program at the FCE Zaria, you must hold an NCE certificate. You would apply through the Direct Entry (DE) process.
Other Entry Options
Pre-NCE: The college also offers a Pre-NCE program in Languages and Sciences, and successful candidates are qualified for admission into the main NCE program
