When a zinc rod is immersed in a copper(II) tetraoxosulphate(VI) (CuSO4) solution, a redox reaction occurs, causing the blue color of the solution to fade as copper ions are reduced and deposited onto the zinc rod, while the zinc rod dissolves forming zinc ions.
