Initially, a dead body doesn't float, it sinks. But in decomposition, there are gasses produced, which stay in the body. This makes the body expand, and its weight will go down. Thereby the specific weight of the body, weight / volume, will slowly become less than the specific weight of water.
The body will float, because at that point water is more heavy / volume, than the body.
