*Short answer: No, but “ICT” was renamed to “Digital Technology” — Computer Studies is still a different subject.*

*Here’s how WAEC breaks it down for 2026/2027:*

*1. Computer Studies* 💻
- This is the main WAEC subject you know. Covers computer fundamentals, hardware/software, programming, data processing, ICT applications
- It’s an *elective subject* — not compulsory
- Exam has 3 papers: MCQ, theory, and practical

*2. Digital Technology* 📱
- This is the *new name for ICT* under the revised curriculum
- Federal Govt made it a *compulsory Core subject* along with English, Maths, Citizenship & Heritage Studies, and 1 Trade Subject
- *BUT* WAEC said you won’t write Digital Technology in 2026 or 2027. Exams for it start *2028* when the new syllabus fully kicks in

*3. ICT (Core)*
- The old name. Syllabus covers word processing, spreadsheet, internet, computer hardware/software
- Now renamed to Digital Technology. Same content, new name

*So in WAEC:*
Subject Status for 2026/2027 Same as Computer?
**Computer Studies** Elective, you can register now No
**Digital Technology** Core subject but NO exam till 2028 No — it’s the renamed ICT
**ICT** Old name for Digital Technology No
*Key point*: If your school offered “ICT” before, you’re now doing “Digital Technology”. Computer Studies is separate and deeper — it has programming, algorithms, database etc.

You registering WAEC soon? If you pick Computer Studies, you’re good. If your school says “Digital Tech is compulsory,” you won’t write it till 2028.
