Allegorical symbolism is when a story, character, object, or event represents a deeper, usually abstract meaning—like a moral lesson, idea, or message about life.
Allegory = a whole story (or big part of it) that has a hidden meaning beneath the surface
Symbolism = using specific things (objects, characters, actions) to stand for bigger ideas
So when you combine them, allegorical symbolism means a story uses symbols throughout to teach or express a deeper message.
Simple example:
In Animal Farm:
The animals = different groups of people in society
The farm = a country
The story itself = a symbol of political events (specifically the Russian Revolution)

Allegorical symbolism is a literary and artistic device where characters, events, or objects in a narrative or image represent abstract ideas, moral qualities, or political concepts. It is a story that operates on two levels: a literal, surface-level story and a deeper, symbolic meaning, often functioning as an extended metaphor to convey complex ideas.

Common synonyms often used in literary analysis include parable, fable, symbolic narrative, and extended metaphor.

symbolism and allegory are similar, both painting deeper ideas beyond the surface things that are expressed, but allegory is a reference to someone or something.
For instance, calling someone solomon cause they are intelligent, would be a biblical allegory to King solomon in the bible who was the wisest man on earth. and a historical allegory would be referencing the titanic, etc and other events.
