Gay-Lussac's law is a gas law in Chemistry that explains how pressure and temperature of a gas are related when the volume is constant.
Simple meaning
When the temperature of a gas increases, the pressure also increases (if the volume is kept constant).
When the temperature decreases, the pressure decreases.
Mathematical form (WAEC/JAMB level)
P1/T1=P2/T2
Where:
P1= initial pressure
T1 = initial temperature (in Kelvin)
P2 = final pressure
T2= final temperature (in Kelvin)
Remember: Temperature must be in Kelvin, not Celsius.
Everyday example
When a closed gas container is heated, the pressure inside increases because gas particles move faster.
