In a circuit the battery cell B, a standard resistor R the bare wire AX and a jockey ( sliding contact) are connected. A voltmeter is used to measure the potentials, V across the standard resistor R for different length L of a bare wire, the length AP of the wire is equal to 1 is measured and the jockey made to touch the wire P. The voltmeter reading V, is recorded.
1. Draw the setup for the above experiment
2. If the battery is 40 V, the voltmeter reading across R is 2.0 V and the resistance per unit length of the wire AX is 2 Ohms per meter, calculate the current in the circuit When AP is 40cm . neglect the internal resistance of the battery?
